If you have set your Mac to allow apps only from the App Store and you try to install an app from elsewhere, your Mac will say that the app can't be opened because it was not downloaded from the App Store.*
If macOS detects that software has malicious content or its authorization has been revoked for any reason, your Mac will notify you that the app will damage your computer. You should move this app to the Trash and check "Report malware to Apple to protect other users."

Mac operating systems offer unwavering reliability and stability, and it's one of the main reasons they are primarily used for productivity and work-related environments. However, despite their stable nature, they aren't free from errors or issues.
No one issue causes the macOS to show errors when trying to open DMG files, and there are many reasons why this could be happening. So, as mentioned before, it's essential to understand the senses as much as it's crucial to apply the fixes.
One of the premier reasons DMG files are not readable is that the file could be corrupted. People often download the corrupted file and think nothing else is the matter. So, sometimes, the most apparent issue is the problem; in this case, it's a corrupted DMG file.
It's important to understand that even though macOS seem similar, not all are made equally. That's why the file format of the DMG you're using may not be compatible with your macOS. An easy fix for this is to compare the compatibility of the file with your macOS and download the right one.
Another rare but possible reason is that your hard drive might have a bad sector on it. Therefore, it may not be the issue of your operating system or the DMG file itself. Instead, it could be a hardware issue; the usual suspect is the hard drive.
These are some of the most common reasons that any macOS may refuse to read the DMG file. Therefore, make sure you diagnose these issues before proceeding with the fixes. Check here to learn how to fix a corrupted hard drive on Mac.
In other words, this tool can help you save your files regardless of how you lose them - even when trying to recover a DMG file or get it to work. Besides that, it gives you plenty of reasons to use it as your primary recovery tool, such as:
Another fix you can try is to download the DMG file again. As mentioned before, many a time in macOS, the most apparent issue is the one you should try to fix. In this case, it's a corrupted DMG file, and you should try to download it again.
The third method is to check the file system format and whether it's compatible with your OSX. It's one of the significant reasons DMG files aren't mounted on macOS, as the file isn't compatible with the macOS installed on the device.

I'm trying to use the MacOS Recovery Utilities to reinstall my Mac OS X Lion. When I chose "Reinstall MacOS", I get the following message: "Can't download the additional components needed to install Mac OS X."
if you're getting the "can't download the additional components" error, try removing any extra memory that was installed after you bought it, try reinstalling the Mac OS after memory removal. Can reinstall the upgraded memory after os install goes thru. Good luck.
I finally fixed it. I did everything I was supposed to do, had good internet connection, etc. I brought the MacBook to a different WiFi network and did the same steps as I did before and it worked. So maybe try a new (not 2g vs 5g a different IP address) and try to download the new software.
Incomplete or partial downloads occur when a client is in the process of downloading a file and the connection gets interrupted, thus resulting in an incomplete download of a file. Typically, this occurs due to a connection error on the client side although it can also happen for a few other reasons which we'll explore in this article. Apart from identifying possible causes, we'll also discuss how certain browsers handle partial downloads and how to resume them once the issue has been resolved.
Some browsers are better suited for resuming partial downloads than others. In any case, we've listed three browsers below that allow you to resume partial downloads either via a plugin, a partial file, or by using a combination of techniques.
As a web developer, if you need to further analyze the partial downloads that are occurring on your site you should always look to the logs for more information. The same goes for further analyzing partial or incomplete downloads via KeyCDN.
If you require more information, enable our log forwarding feature to enable Syslog to receive your raw logs in real time. With this information, you'll be able to more accurately determine the number of partial downloads by analyzing the 206 HTTP status codes, see how many bytes were sent, and more. Visit our raw log format page to learn more about the types of log fields which are displayed. An example log entry of a partial content response would look like the following (note the 206 HTTP status):
With Internet speeds these days, partial or incomplete downloads aren't as big of a problem they used to be. If an interruption occurs, in most cases it's fine to just restart the download. However, if the file is very large or if your Internet connection is slow or spotty, it might be useful to use a web browser that supports partial file resumption.

How many times have you downloaded files from web browsers, messengers, torrents, and mail? When you download files from the Internet, by default they are saved in the Downloads folder, which can easily be found at this location:
You may have created copies of documents or downloaded some files twice, and later forgotten about it. Duplicate files take up useless disk space on your Mac. Searching for duplicates manually seems to be a long and hard process. The only thing you can do very quickly is to find the duplicate music files in the Music Library.
The Mac App Store has all the information about your Apple ID. It knows which account you're using, and tracks your application ownership. Sometimes, you might encounter an issue where the App Store falsely reports that a particular app is installed, and therefore won't let you download it.
This type of problem occurs when you install a beta version of macOS on another partition or external drive. Apps you install on it get indexed by Spotlight. The index that the system creates will make the App Store think that a duplicate copy of the app exists on another drive. It'll refuse to download or update the app on the primary partition.
The App Store provides regular updates to both system and third-party apps. In some cases, the download doesn't complete and might hang in the middle of the process. You might see a familiar Waiting or Installing---Calculating message just beneath the download progress bar.
When the download begins, the App Store creates many temporary files in the cache folder. They include a Spotlight metadata file, incomplete installer file, and a PLIST file with details of the app you're downloading.
After deleting the contents of the cache folder, you'll next need to kill the culprit processes from the Activity Monitor. This will ensure that when you re-download the update, the processes will not hang again.
Peripheral devices cause malfunctions. It is a common reason for Mac shuts, especially if you leave any peripheral device plugged in all the time. Mainly, it happens because any of the devices connected is not working properly. 2b1af7f3a8
