We pre-build and test ride all of our Ship-to-Home bikes to make the process as easy as possible. Your bike will ship with a step-by-step illustrated instruction guide. We also created a video to walk you through the steps. See -to-assemble-your-bike to preview how the process works. If you get stuck, you can contact our Rider Care team for help.
Your new bike will come with everything you need to assemble it, including a torque wrench, 4, 5, and 6 mm hex bits, grease and carbon friction paste, and a shock pump if your bike has air suspension. You will also need a pump to inflate your tires, which you can find in our online store or at your local retailer.
Just like with clothing, not all bikes fit the same. Check the size guide and geometry table before purchasing to help you choose the best size. Once you have your new bike, a professional bike fit through our Retül Fit program can help you customize your fit through the perfect saddle height, stem length, and other options.
Our tubeless ready bikes come with tubeless-compatible rims and tires. Tubeless rim tape is pre-installed. You will need to supply your own tubeless valves and sealant. You can find more information on tubeless setup here.

Mike's Bikes was founded in 1964 as one of Marin County's very first Schwinn shops. It is rumored that our store in San Rafael was home to some of the first mountain bikes in the country. Cycling has changed dramatically as the decades have rolled by, but Mike's Bikes has never wavered from our total dedication to the sport.
Today, Mike's Bikes is a growing family of bike shops, all with a singular purpose - to get as many people on bikes as possible. We operate 14 wildly successful stores in Petaluma, San Rafael, Sausalito, San Francisco, Berkeley, Palo Alto, Los Gatos, Sacramento, Walnut Creek, San Jose, Pleasanton, Folsom, Roseville, & Stanford Research Park! Our professional staff of over 250 cycling enthusiasts will ensure that your experiences both in the store and on your bike are the best they can be.
Why shop with us Because we know bikes and we care. We don't sell snowboards, we don't sell kayaks and we don't sell tents. We only sell bikes - you might even say bikes are our life. Why does that matter Because this utter fanaticism for our product makes us the best at what we do - We live to create cyclists.
Not sure I get this sentimental adherence to bikes and shops staying stuck in the feel-good nostalgia of the1970s. Consumers expect other industries and services to move at the speed of light into the 21st century, yet we all collectively whine when a bike company wants to return a profit to its shareholders and adopt business practices that other companies have been adopting for years. Boo hoo.
People who compare this to canyon are missing the big gorilla in the room that specialized prices are on the obscene levels. They have non s-works bikes, over $10,000. Canyon has better bang for the buck (as do so many other brands)
Truth is, most bike shops will be going the way of record shops before this decade is up. Direct to consumer will continue to grow. That said, there will still be some brick-and-mortar (and guy-with-a-van) businesses providing bike maintenance, and maybe some bike fitting. Everything else will be moving fully online.
Apparel sales online of premium products will not go well. Not when you have companies selling clothes that is 90% as good as the name brand stuff for 1/4 of the price. I might pay $200 for bib shorts that I can see in the store and try on. If I have to mail order the shorts, I will be tempted to buy the $50 bibs instead of the $200 bibs.
I am a level 1 dealer with HUNDREDS of sold bikes still on backorder and over a thousand more backordered for stock this summer. Many of those same bikes are showing up as available for my customers to order direct from them before they ship my backorders from a year ago.
It might be OK for experienced customers who can examine a geometry chart and figure out if a bike they have never ridden will fit, but not so good for first time customers. Have seen a few Canyon bikes for sale because the owner picked the wrong frame size. Not a great way to introduce a brand to a new cyclist.
Trek and Specialized are buying large dealers in metro areas. My LBS in North Dallas told me that they will not be able to order a specialized fuse due to direct to consumer along with supply chain problems. They had to refund my deposit.
The incredible story of how Triton Bikes founder Dmitry Nechaev got out of Russia just after the invasion of Ukraine started, and how his family and co-workers soon followed, helping them get their equipment and bikes across the border and into their new home in Portugal!
Bike Build Process All bikes are built, tested, tuned, and ready to ride upon shipment. The bike build process typically takes 2-3 days to complete depending on the bike model and the complexity of the build.
Two new Rider Direct options omit a significant portion of traditional bike shop services. One option totally removes dealer involvement from the purchase and delivery, while the other has the dealer handling acquisition, assembly, and delivery. The news adds yet another hurdle to local, independently owned bikes shops at a time when margins are especially tight and demand for bicycles continues to soar.
As an example, we used to be a Brompton stockist before Brompton had their own retail stores. On several occasions we spent considerable time discussing and demonstrating the product to potential customers only to find that in not having the colour option that they wanted, the sale migrated to Bromptons online web shop. This resulted in us not only losing the sale but losing the time that we invested in the customer. Brompton, like yourselves, did not offer a commission on the sale. This experience resulted in us dropping the Brompton brand from our range.
Sometimes the bike you're looking for isn't available in our store or on the Greenstreet website. When the Specialized bike you want says, \"Unavailable\", for the model, color, or size you need, you can look that same bike up on the Specialized website: specialized.com.
In late January Specialized announced they would begin selling bikes online through the Specialized.com website. Now, it seems select frames and complete bikes will be available through other online retailers as well.
Bicycle Retailer reported in January that Specialized would offer their bikes for sale through the Specialized website, though there was no mention of including third-party online retailers like Competitive Cyclist at that time. However, Competitive Cyclist and select online retailers have been selling Specialized apparel and components like tires and saddles through their websites since at least 2019.
Founded by riders in 1974, that fact has guided every decision since. More than 40 years later Specialized is a top choice amongst cycling enthusiasts for all kinds of riding. Shop our in-stock inventory of bikes, equipment and apparel online for in-store pickup at Bike Therapy!
In doing so it is following the example of brands like Canyon. Though Specialized will continue to sell bikes through retailers all over the world, its latest moves will cut out the retailer either fully or partially from make bike sales.
The move comes at a time when Specialized has been under pressure in the US as Trek and Pon (which owns Santa Cruz, Cervelo, Gazelle, Focus and others) have been buying retailers. Some of the retailers that have been acquired include those that sold Specialized bikes. Once the retailers have been bought by Trek or Pon, they discontinue their sale of Specialized bikes, thus cutting off those dealers from Specialized.
Well-thought-out unique selling points such as the SWAT door make it clear that the developers ride their products themselves, and you benefit directly from this, as this valuable practical experience flows into the improvement of the bikes.

As with just about every bicycle brand, Specialized divides its retailers into different tiers based on their level of financial commitment. But now, Specialized will not only consider itself to be a top-end Tier 1 dealer, but it will also be withholding 15% of its bike stock for its own direct-to-consumer inventory. In other words, Specialized will now not only be a direct competitor with its own top dealers, but even bigger dealers will essentially be bumped down a rung on the ladder in terms of how
